I was born and raised (for 23 years) in the great state of TX, then moved on my own to the beautiful state of CO. That's where I met and fell in love with Scott. Hard to believe 7 years have already flown by. My family and friends are spread out across the country now, and this site is a great way to stay in touch (I hope).

Winter Wonderland

Wow-I am a bad blogger.  I can't believe how long it has been since I updated the entries.  I am in awe of anyone who posts mulitple times a week!

Well, winter in Colorado has arrived.  It snowed from Thursday until Tuesday night.  We have many, many inches of snow.  I think parts of the yard must have 7 to 8 inches now.  It's so pretty, but makes the streets so bad.  But the sun is out today, and it should warm up to the mid 30's-hooray!

Fall went by so quickly, and you can tell by my lack of entries, it was pretty uneventful.  I watched way too much TV and now I'm bummed that most show are done for a while due to the strike.  (and I want to put out a plug for 2 new great shows-Chuck and Pushing Daisies!)  At least it is the holidays and I will have plenty to keep me otherwise occupied.  Scott and I really enjoyed the baseball playoffs this year-how crazy was it that the Rockies and Red Sox were in the world series?  Our 2 teams, facing each other.  I wanted the Rocks to win, but if they had to lose at least it was to the BoSox.  But it would have been nice if the Rockies had won at least ONE world series game.

I hope to update more soon-I need to do an entry on the big hair cut and donation-with pictures!

September 24th is marked on my calendar

September 24th is marked on my calendar.....you might be wondering why. That's the day of the return of the best new show on TV-Heroes!  I have to know what happens to the Petrelli brothers!  Plus the actor from alias who played "sark" is joining the cast this year.  Most of the other shows (Grey's, Ugly Betty, the office, How I met your mother) return this week as well-I can't wait.  (Yall know how much I like TV, hee hee).  So my fellow couch potatoes-what other shows are you exicted for?  let the countdown begin!

busy!

Just a quick update on what Scott and I have been doing the past few weeks......first we joined some friends for a garage sale.  Such an interesting concept.  Like my mom says, you PAY someone to haul off your junk!  It was quite entertaining as well-we had fun hanging out with our friends, eating pizza, and watching the "shoppers".

Then we had a great time at E and M's wedding-Scott took some photos and I did the reading and the bride's makeup.  The wedding was during labor day weekend, so we also saw our old neighbor's who came into town for a visit.  We misse them, so it was great to have lunch and catch up, and their 2 year old is soooo cute and sweet.

This weekend we have 2 baby showers to go to!  Fun.  It is very exciting to celebrate all these good life events with our friends.

Yesterday, Scott and I were able to have a day trip (our first in the new FIT, and something we haven't done in a while).  We drove to Estes Park for the Scottish Highlands Festival.  This is a HUGE annual event that we've wanted to go experience.  It was very fun-lots of bagpipes, food, and kilts.  We each learned a lot about family clans and tartans.  (Each of us finding our respective clan that we could claim, based on family surnames.)

And another about what Scott and I are doing this school year-we will be volunteering with the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders at church.   They meet twice a month for games, fellowship, snack and Bible lesson.  We've already played 4-square and black widow, and helped with a skit!  whew. (Thankfully there is another experienced adult member who is the lead person, so me and Scott can just show up and assist.)

We've had a great summer, and look forward to a fun fall.  It really feels like it here today-it's only about 55 degrees, and we had to run the heater this morning.  :-)

Sherwin stories

I talked about Maggie, so I can't leave Sherwin out!  He had a rough start in life (living outside on a ranch, he wasn't too sure about the house or people), but he's come a long way.  While he has learned to love us, Maggie, the couch, and cuddling, he's still very independent and enjoys being outside.  He will also entertain himself.....which leads me to one of my favorite Sherwin stories.  One nice day (I think it was last fall) Sherwie was "out" for a while, enjoying the back yard and just generally being a dog.  He found a piece of mulch, which he proceed to toss in the air and catch....mind you I was INSIDE watching him do this and he was in the yard alone.  Along with the tossing and catching, there was grunting and twirling/twisting/jumping.....all in all very entertaining for me.  But it gets better-he was doing this game on the deck.....and proceeded to twirl/twist himself RIGHT OVER THE EDGE!  Don't worry, it wasn't far and he landed on his feet.  Only momentarily stunned, he went back to tossing his piece of mulch, just as happy as before.

Help me Rhonda

I saw an article on yahoo's homepage that I had to read this morning.....10 cars that will go 200K.  Since Rhonda the Honda, my trusty red 1997 CR-V, is only a few miles short of 190,000 (!!!!) I rushed to the list, knowing CR-Vs deserved to be there.  Yup!  they are!  boy, am I excited.  I *KNOW* she will make it.  But of course, I need to do some maintenance and deep cleaning-she's starting to show the miles.  But who can blame her-she commutes over 40 miles a day, many of which have been in snow, and a few times in blizzard conditions.  Rhonda has also taken the whole family (including both dogs but minus the cat) to Texas more times than I can remember, and also Arizona and California!  She's been a great car.  Now that Scott has a new Honda FIT, I will drive Rhonda until she dies.....which is hopefully sometime AFTER Scott is done with school!  According to the article these "10" cars could last 15 years, or 225,000 miles....so we will see!   One another note, I was equally pleased to see the Toyota Highlander on the list, since I had already deciced that is what I want as a replacement (4x4 with the hybrid engine).
